I wrote this about You

You’ve become everything you've ever wanted and more
Only you haven't realized it yet
Because you're too focused on what you're not, now

You’re beautiful
Only you don’t know it yet
When you realize, you won’t like what you see anymore.
But those pictures of who you were
Those are the pretty ones
You’ll think to yourself

And you won’t ever be happy
That’s a promise
If you keep up your wild ways
Of judging yourself more than others will ever judge you

You can be your own worst enemy or your own best friend
Choose love over hate
Because she knows your worst secrets and your biggest mistakes
Your predisposed flaws and weaknesses
This girl, with you, she also knows your happiest moments and your greatest success.

This is for a friend
Who won’t read these words, but should
This isn’t for me
Who wrote these words, but wouldn’t believe them
Even if they came from the heart.

This is about you.

At A Simple Stranger

Time will find us together
or time will find us apart
time will find us regardless of whether we are with someone
whether we lost someone
whether we are strangers passing each other on the street
and our eyes meet
and you smile
and there's something special there
a twinkle in your eye
that I don't see
because I looked away when you smiled
reactions are too slow
for time doesn't always give us enough of it to hold onto
and it slips by
and then it's too late
to return the favor
of a simple smile
at a simple stranger.

Stay Alive

I am right here.

Where?

Tell me where you are first. Then we can meet somewhere in the middle.
That's the only fair way to do it, right?

But I don't mean in the middle of a place. I'm not talking about geography. There is no map involved on a ticking clock and there isn't one of my heart.

Find me or I'll find you. It will happen. If you stay on this world long enough for it to.

Will you please?

Stay alive.

Because I am.

Does it smell where you are?
Does it smell like wildabeasts or wild flowers?
Do children's laughter fill your ears.
Are there onions nearby.

Can you hear me?
Because you should.
You should hear me when I say "I'm right here,"

Because I am.
